Geometric Data Analysis: Logistics
The conference will start on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 9am and will end on Thursday, May 23, at 5:30pm. The program will be posted as soon as it is available.
We’d like to reduce the financial burden that attending conferences places on students, postdoc fellows and early career academics, and a number of attendees will be partially reimbursed for their travel expenses.
Please submit your application online* by January 9, 2019. All applicants will be notified of the results of their applications by February 28, 2019. In order to be reimbursed, you’ll be asked to provide receipts and proofs of payments at the end of the conference.
* To apply: submit your CV, a brief research statement (up to 250 words), and a brief statement explaining why and how attending this conference will contribute to your research (up to 250 words). In addition, please ask someone who is familiar with your work (your academic advisor or your mentor) to send a brief letter supporting your application to firstname.lastname@example.org, by January 9, 2019. The letter should be addressed to the GDA 2019 Selection Committee.
Poster sessions will be organized. Please submit your application online by January 9, 2019 if you’d like to present a poster. Easels and boards will be provided.
Transportation & Parking
If you’re flying to Chicago: Midway airport (MDW) is smaller and easier to navigate if you’re flying domestically. International travelers have no choice but to fly to O’Hare airport (ORD).
Once in Chicago, we suggest you use public transportation or ride sharing services. Parking on campus can be challenging.
The University of Chicago has compiled a list of hotels that are easily accessible from the campus. Chicago offers plenty of housing options, including a few Hostels and B&B.
We aren’t able to set up housing for students, but please feel free to email email@example.com if you have questions about locations, need advice, etc. The closest neighborhoods to look would be Hyde Park, South Loop, Near South Side, and Downtown Chicago.
Speakers are all invited to lunch. Lunches will be served at the Quadrangle Club, on the University of Chicago campus.
A limited number of lunch tickets are available for sale ($35/lunch), and attendees are welcome to join (make sure you purchase your ticket in advance as seats are limited.) A list of nearby lunch options will be provided on site.
Please register to attend the conference. Registration is free and open until May 13, 2019. Make sure you register as space is limited.
